Merry Christmas
With all the furor over separation of church and state, one would think the critics and activists had a clue what that meant. But the fact is, the constitution was written to prevent a state run religion. Historians have documented the Church of England as the state sponsored religion of England. State sponsored religions go back to 300AD when Constantine decided it was good politics to embrace Christianity.
What the constitution does guarantee is freedom of religion and protects us against state imposed religion. Nobody should tell a Muslim they have to be anything other than a Muslim. The same for a Jew. But when a group consistently tells another group how to express their beliefs, then we have a violation of free speech. Forcing the courts to enact restraining provisions on the free expression of faith is nothing more than persecution. To argue otherwise is to miss the whole point of our constitutional freedoms.
If a Muslim wants to express their faith by displaying a symbolic copy of Koran on their lawn - who cares. It does not impact me or what I hold dear. But when a group of people decide to attack our Muslim neighbor, remove the Koran, take him to court to prevent his free expression - we have gone beyond the freedoms of the US Constitution.
It is time to stop this nonsense. Americans, who love the freedoms we enjoy as a country need to be heard on this subject NOW. It is time to make a stand and stop the ACLU and other wrong thinkers before they turn America into the America they want - an America that persecutes anyone who speaks out - anyone who expresses a diverse opinion.
Who will stand up? Now is the time. Merry Christmas.
